Titilaka Lodge Rated Among “Top 10 Best Most Unusual Hotels” According to Tablet Hotels

The prestigious website “Tablet hotels” ranked the Peru based Titilaka lodge among its “Tablet 10 Best most unusual hotels in the world” list. It might be due to the lodge having been built on Lake Titicaca which stretches between two distinct countries or the fact that the Incas considered it the birthplace of civilization making it a location of highly cultural significance. Whatever the reason may be it is an incredible hotel and well worth the visit.
The list made by Tablet consisted of 10 hotels located in different parts of the world and were judged upon a number of reasons including client testimonials which is probably the most important one of all. Also in the top 10 were hotels like: “Hotel del la Cite” in France and “The Dolder Grand” located in Zurich.

Lake Titicaca has long since been a destination which was more suited for the backpacker type of traveler that did not mind making a long pilgrimage to the water’s edge. The Titilaka lodge is directed toward another the more demanding traveler being a luxury oriented hotel with amenities to please just about everyone. Heated floors, iPod docks, black-out curtains, and wireless internet make Titilaka different to the generic five-star lodging. The eco-friendly hotel located on the water’s edge houses 18 amazing suites decorated in earthy hues. The high-end linens, handcrafted bath products, and oversized tubs are pleasant and give it a certain appeal.

However the real attraction is the jaw-dropping view of the deep blue water through the huge picture windows. No matter which room you decide to stay in (or are able to book, the popularity for this type of luxury boutique hotel in secluded environments is increasing) it will undoubtedly have an incredible view of this Andean lake, the highest navigable lake in the world by the way; yeah we state this because there are sailing tours. In combination with the first rate amenities and services as well as tours of the lake and the uros islands (manmade islands) it truly sets it apart and makes it one of the best hotels in Peru and is definitely
deserving of a visit.

Uros House in Times Square

Recent guests inspired by Lake Titicaca and surroundings create unique art. Grimanesa Amoros, NY based artist, wins recognition by her Uros inspired work with is displayed in NYCTimes Square Show 2011 – Uros House.

A frame withing a frame

A frame within a frame
Distant ranks of jagged peaks
Line up in savage brilliance
And icy waves, pierced by undiluted light
Tear glimpses of insequent depth
Before dissolving in a soft lament

Hills of red and ancient, lizard backed
And frozen by the homeless wind
Conceal the ruins of an age long trampled
While at the centre stone and steel and wood
Converge to form the final frame
From which you almost see the World…

But faithless time turns days to moments
Claiming all its secrets with a blazing hearth,
A smile, a quiet repose…
